Local teen ranked as one of the best swimmers in the world

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. (WPVI) -- To be the best at any craft, takes talent, hard work and dedication.

One local swimmer has check marks in all of those categories.

Andrew Abruzzo's typical day, is far from typical for a 17 year old. But not many 17 year olds can say they're the best in the world.

The Germantown Academy Junior, who swims for the Plymouth Whitemarsh Aquatic Club, was just ranked the top swimmer on the planet in the 1500 meters for kids 18 and under.

He's also in the top 10 in two other events.
