The Indianapolis Colts and coach Chuck Pagano will not reach a deal on a contract extension before the season, according to a media report.

Two sources briefed on the situation told NFL.com that the team will allow Pagano to see out the final year of the four-year contract he signed in 2012.

Indianapolis has made the playoffs in each of Pagano's three seasons, going 11-5 last season and reaching the AFC Championship Game, where they lost to eventual Super Bowl champion New England 45-7.

The Colts and Pagano are following a similar path to the one the Dallas Cowboys and coach Jason Garrett did last season. That ultimately worked out for everyone in Dallas, as the Cowboys made the playoffs and Garrett signed a five-year, $30 million deal in January.

The franchise seems content to wait until after the 2015 season to make a decision on its key players. On Monday, Colts owner Jim Irsay said the teamwould also wait to address quarterback Andrew Luck's contract.
