Source: No surgery for Eagles QB Nick Foles, out 6 to 8 weeks

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles will not need surgery on a broken clavicle, but will be out 6 to 8 weeks, an NFL source tells Action News sports reporter Jamie Apody.

Head coach Chip Kelly said Monday that Foles and linebacker DeMeco Ryans were both injured in Sunday's match up against the Houston Texans.

Kelly didn't go into much detail about the injuries. However, he did say Foles suffered a "cracked" clavicle and that Ryans sustain an Achilles injury.

An MRI was performed on both players today. Kelly said he was reserving further comment pending the results of the scans.

Mark Sanchez replaced Foles as quarterback as the Birds beat the Houston Texans 31-21.

After nearly two years on the bench, Sanchez overcame turnovers and did enough to keep the Eagles in first place.

Sanchez came on to throw for 202 yards and two touchdowns.

Sanchez, who also threw two interceptions, missed all of last season after tearing the labrum in his right shoulder in the preseason. He last played on Dec. 30, 2012 with the New York Jets.

The Eagles (6-2) led by 3 when Jeremy Maclin grabbed a low throw from Sanchez for an 8-yard touchdown to make it 31-21 with about four minutes remaining.

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 203 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for Houston (4-5).
