PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Sixers completed another low-win season and head coach Brett Brown is responding to critics.

"I said it candidly last night, I'm glad the season is over," said Brown.

Brown said it and we all agree with it - after all, watching the team struggle to 18 wins was excruciating at times.

Brown even took tanking to a new level on Wednesday night, allowing his players to coach - something that's being widely criticized.

Did he realize how people responded to it?

"First I didn't realize that, second I don't care. You should have seen the engagement the teammates had with fellow teammates. Truthfully they ran some good plays. I will take some of those and build on them for next year. It's not a gimmick, it's not to cheapen our game, it's not to belittle the environment we were in last night. I saw it as an opportunity for players to talk to players and I would do it again," said Brown.

Well next year, there may be some similar opportunities because Brown does not expect the improvement to be exponential

In an ideal, yet realistic world, what's his goal for next season?

"You're not gonna like my answer. Everyone wants to hear a quantity on wins or this or that - I feel like it's one and the same to keep moving us forward," said Brown.

So what about the fans? Their patience has to be wearing thin.

On game days, Brown comes right outside the team's PCOM practice complex and takes a run through the streets of the city. He says the fans get it.

"Five people stop me, one drove alongside me for 300-400 yards and was kinda telling me how to coach and who we should draft. I'm kinda floored at how great the city has been," said Brown.
