Sons of Flyers greats making their own names on the ice

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Danny Briere and Keith Primeau each spent 6 seasons starring for the Philadelphia Flyers and now their sons are rising stars.

While Primeau's boys Chayse and Cayden play for Bishop Eustace, Briere's sons Caelan and Carson play for St. Augustine.

"We try to make names for ourselves and not just be Keith Primeau's sons; we want to be who we are," Cayden said.

"Over time you get used to it; now it doesn't really bother us anymore," Caelan said.

"Only pressure they have is what they put on themselves, but it's enough to try and live up to a family name," Keith Primeau said.

It's like father like son - kind of.

Chayse Primeau is a big imposing captain like his dad while Cayden is one of the best high school goalies in the country.

Caelen Briere is big defenseman, but Carson is a smaller finesse player like his dad and he even uses Danny's signature goal celebration.

"I have been doing that since I was young. I always wanted to be like my dad growing up," Carson said.

While Danny Briere doesn't get to see his kids play too much since he's still playing for Colorado Avalanche, Keith Primeau doesn't miss a second of his kids in action. He's their assistant coach.

"The opportunity to see them on the same ice, you never know how long that is going to last, so it's been a fun year," Primeau said.

The Primeau and Briere boys are friends, but on Wednesday they were rivals as Bishop Eustace beat St. Augustine for a South Jersey division title.

One day all four of them dream of celebrating together in the NHL like their pops.
