PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia Eagles will release guard Todd Herremans, a source tells Action News.

The NFL source tells Action News it is "expected to happen."

ESPN's Adam Caplan first reported on Herreman's expected release on Twitter, citing a source of his own.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport confirmed Caplan's report, tweeting, "The #Eagles are releasing long-time G Todd Herremans, as @caplannfl said. Injured last year, fine now. Will generate some interest."

A longtime Eagle, Herremans was drafted by the team in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft.

Herremans injured his bicep during last season and was placed on the team's injured reserve.

"Herremans, known for his legendary toughness, played with a fully torn biceps until he had to have it repaired. Played with 1 arm," Caplan tweeted.

So far, there has not been any official word from the Eagles.
