VIDEO: Sturgis focused, Parkey determined, Vandervelde re-signed again
He may not have a name on the back of his jersey, but the name Caleb Sturgis will be called plenty from here on out.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- He may not have a name on the back of his jersey, but the name Caleb Sturgis will be called plenty from here on out. After all, much of the season now rests on him and his right leg.

"Fortunately for me, it's not a big playbook or anything like that I have to learn. It's getting used to a great long snapper and a great holder, and just go make field goals and kickoff well," Sturgis said Tuesday.

The former Miami Dolphins kicker, who lost the job in training camp, is in because Cody Parkey's year is finished.

Parkey says he felt something in warmups on Sunday, kicked through it the whole game, and only after the subsequent MRI learned he tore all three muscles in his groin.

"From the first kick in warmups in the Jets game, I was like, 'Wow, this does not feel good.' I'm going to rest, I'm going to rehab, and I'm going to come back stronger than ever and there's not a doubt in my mind I can be the Eagles' kicker next year," Parkey said.

Parkey is not the only one whose season is done.

Right guard Andrew Gardner has also been put on IR so the Birds brought back Julian Vandervelde...again.

"The worst part is every time I've come back I have to do that stupid body fat test, you just sit there with your shirt off and they pinch you in all of the worst places to pinch you. It's not like, 'let me flex [my bicep] and pinch.' It's like, 'give me your gut, I'm going to stick one finger in your bellybutton and other out here and I'm going to grab this whole thing,'" Vandervelde said while shaking his stomach.

Since drafting him in 2011, the Eagles have re-signed Vandervelde eight different times. He's been a part of 17 different transactions in only four years.

"I'm not sure that I haven't set a record for the most between a single player and a single team, I'm really, really hoping. If not, I know that I have to be close, so maybe they can cut me and sign me, cut me and sign me a couple more times and see if we can get that record," Vandervelde said.
