Robot granted citizenship in Saudi Arabia
Robot granted citizenship in Saudi Arabia: Alicia Vitarelli reports during Action News at 4:30pm on November 7, 2017.

Sophia, a delicate looking woman with doe-brown eyes and long fluttery eyelashes is making international headlines after she became the first robot to be named a full citizen of Saudi Arabia.

She made the announcement herself during the Future Investment Initiative Conference in Saudi Arabia, saying she's honored and proud.

This is all part of a publicity stunt for technology and innovation in that country.

Sophia is the work of Hanson Robotics, an artificial intelligence team lead by former Disney Imagineer, David Hanson.

Apparently she has feelings, a sense of humor and is the only of her kind in the world.
