NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- One person is dead after a car hit a nail salon, coming to rest inside the store, in Northeast Philadelphia.

It was 11:48 a.m. Tuesday when a vehicle drove into Cindy's Nail Salon in the 9800 block of Bustleton Avenue.

Police say an elderly woman, accompanied by another elderly woman, had arrived to do some shopping and was attempting to park her car in front of the nail salon.

Investigators say the driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brake by mistake, and crashed into the salon, occupied by six people.

Philadelphia Police Sgt. Joe Rossa tells us, "Three were OK. Two were taken in critical condition to Aria Torresdale Hospital, and a third person was pronounced deceased at the scene."

Witnesses say the woman that was killed was under the car.

The car left the door in shambles after crashing all the way through to the back of the salon.

"Considerable amount of damage consistent with continually accelerating through the entire store until the car couldn't move and father because of the walls itself," Sgt. Rossa said.

The driver and her passenger were no injured.

The investigation is ongoing, but police do not anticipate to file charges.
