LOWER MERION TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A crash that slowed traffic on the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) in Lower Merion Township has been cleared.

The accident happened in rainy conditions after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday in the westbound lanes near the Gladwyne exit.

Video from Sky 6 cameras near the scene showed a crash blocking the left lane.

Action News is told several vehicles collided. There was no word of serious injuries.

Traffic was crawling by in the right lane following the crash.

An extensive, miles-long backup frustrated commuters for well over 90 minutes as police investigated and crews worked to clear the wrecked vehicles.

All lanes were back open by 7:30 a.m., but delays persisted for well over an hour before traffic was moving normally again.
