WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- The Delaware Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that repairs on the tilting I-495 bridge in Wilmington is "rapidly moving ahead."

The bridge, which normally carries approximately 90,000 vehicles daily, has been closed since June 2, after officials learned that several columns were tilting.

DelDOT officials say three of the 32 reinforced concrete shafts have already been completely installed and five more will be completed by Thursday.

A number of Delaware based firm are assisting with the repairs.

Some steps in the process are said to be time sensitive, which will impact whether the job will be finished on time.

Officials has said that they hope to have the bridge at least partially reopened by Labor Day.
