The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is warning E-Z Pass users to beware of an email phishing scam.
The email looks like an attempt to collect unpaid tolls.
An example of the email is as follows: "Dear customer, You have not paid for driving on a toll road. This invoice is sent repeatedly, please service your debt in the shortest possible time."
The scammers even attempt to replicate the E-Z Pass logo and plum color scheme.
However, the E-Z Pass Service Center sends out invoices through the postal mail.
The Port Authority says the bogus email should be deleted right away.
