Schuylkill Expressway reopens after multi-vehicle crash

Pennsylvania State Police are on the scene of a crash that has shut down the Schuylkill Expressway in both directions between Girard Avenue and Montgomery Drive.

FAIRMOUNT PARK (WPVI) -- Pennsylvania State Police were on the scene of a crash that shut down the Schuylkill Expressway in both directions between Girard Avenue and Montgomery Drive. All lanes have since reopened.

The crash was reported shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said a truck traveling westbound went into the eastbound lanes and hit at least one other vehicle.

A 27-year-old male and a 40-year-old female were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries.

All lanes reopened after PennDOT made repairs and cleaned up debris on the roadway, officials said.
