A 37-year-old man is hospitalized after being struck in Toms River, New Jersey.

TOMS RIVER, N.J. (WPVI) -- A 37-year-old man is hospitalized after being struck in Toms River, New Jersey.

The incident happened at 9:45 p.m. Friday on Route 37 near Douglas Street.

According to police, Shaun Nichols was struck in the roadway near Aqua Blu restaurant.

The driver, 27-year-old Jesus Leonor Hernandez, was traveling eastbound on Route 37 in the right lane when his Chrysler struck Nichols.

The victim was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Hernandez has been charged with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked driver's license.

The crash remains under investigation.
