Police investigate hit-and-run on Roosevelt Boulevard

FELTONVILLE (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are trying to find the driver who hit a vehicle and kept going in the city's Feltonville section.

Surveillance cameras captured a driver sideswiping another truck, pushing it over the median and into southbound traffic lanes.

The victim spoke to Action News and asked us not to use his name.

He said he had just gotten off from work, when the driver of a van tried to make an illegal turn.

"He just rammed right into me, and I went over the median and hit a pole," said the victim.

Residential security cameras caught the suspect speeding off, leaving the driver of this white pickup truck, helpless and disoriented on the other side of Roosevelt Boulevard and C Street.

The victim said, "By the time I got out of the car, he was gone."

The victim says other than a sore wrist and jaw, he has no injuries.

His truck bears different scars, including a deformed hood, two deployed air bags and a cylindrical dent from where the truck hit a metal light pole.

"I got hit. Usually your first reaction is, 'Oh my God, what did I do?' But when I got out, I soon realized you can't make a turn from the outside lane," said the victim.

A Good Samaritan followed the erratic driver and snapped a photo of what appears to be a church van. The writing on the back of the van appears to indicate a link to Bethel Church.

"Just practice what you preach," said the victim. "It was a church van.... I was on my way home from work, and (now) I'm in an insurance battle with someone I don't know."

Anyone who recognizes the van in the photo or video is asked to contact Philadelphia Police.
