A Philadelphia police officer was injured in a crash early Thursday morning.

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia police officer escaped serious injury in a crash early Thursday morning.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. while the officer's patrol car was blocking traffic at the scene of a police-involved shooting in West Philadelphia.

Authorities say a pick-up truck struck the police car's passenger side on Cobbs Creek Parkway at Christian Street.

The driver of the truck was not hurt. He was taken into custody and tested for DUI.

The officer was said to be in good condition.

He was checked out at an area hospital and later released.
