One person is dead and six people were injured after a crash in Bear, Delaware.

BEAR, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware State Police say a woman was killed when the car she was riding in hit several vehicles on U.S. Route 13 in Bear.

Troopers say about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, 66-year-old Joseph Keyes of Dover was speeding north when his vehicle hit a pickup truck and sideswiped a car.

Police say Keyes's car continued traveling at a high rate of speed. Officers say the car struck several more vehicles.

Authorities say Keyes' wife, 61-year-old Catherine A. Keyes, who was a passenger in his car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Joseph Keyes was hospitalized in serious condition. Three other drivers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is under investigation. Troopers say road conditions do not appear to have been a contributing factor.
