PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A flatbed tractor-trailer overturned at the base of the Ben Franklin Bridge Thursday morning, spilling its load and causing delays for Philadelphia-bound commuters for more than four hours.

It happened at 6:16 a.m. Thursday on the Philadelphia side of the bridge in the westbound lanes approaching 5th Street.

Images from Chopper 6 HD showed a large flatbed tractor-trailer lying on its side, blocking the three left lanes of the multi-lane ramp coming off the bridge.

The truck's load of lumber had spilled onto the left shoulder and onto the road below.

The driver of the truck sustained injuries said to be minor.

Cleanup work lasted for several hours.

Westbound traffic was backed up across the entire span of the bridge past the toll plaza in Camden.

All lanes were finally back open by 10:30 a.m.
