Truck tips off roadway in Hockessin, Del.

HOCKESSIN, Del. (WPVI) -- Authorities are investigating what may have caused a flatbed truck carrying a piece of heavy equipment to tip off the side of the road in Hockessin, Delaware.

An Action News viewer first sent us a photo around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday while the driver awaited the arrival of heavy tow truck.

A nearby resident tells Action News that she was walking her dog on the road and the truck driver moved to the side to avoid her. That's when the road seemed to give way.

A DelDOT spokesperson says workers are on site attempting to determine exactly what happened.

A crane/tow truck is being used to pull the truck safely onto the roadway.
