1 dead in Chester Township house blaze, 14 displaced

CHESTER TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Officials say a man is dead and fourteen residents displaced after a house blaze in Chester Township, Pennsylvania.

The fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. Saturday inside a house on the 1500 block of Rainer Road.

Authorities say 39-year-old Shawn Brodie was not able to escape the burning home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The flames spread to neighboring homes causing smoke and damage.

The Red Cross arrived to offer shelter and other aid to fourteen residents.

So far, there is no word on what sparked the blaze.
