Police: 2 teens assaulted officer trying to break up fight in South Philly

Two teenage boys were arrested for assaulting a police officer trying to break up a large fight in South Philadelphia.

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Two teenage boys were arrested for assaulting a police officer trying to break up a large fight in South Philadelphia.

It happened Friday afternoon near the intersection of 20th Street and Oregon Avenue.

Police say responding officers called for assistance.

Police say one officer was assaulted by two 14-year-old boys while trying to break up the fight. The officer is OK.

Police say the crowd may have thrown trash into the street as well during the fight.

No word on the cause of the fight.
