Action News reporter Annie McCormick reports on the snow preps from the Schuylkill Expressway.

Preparations continue across the area as a snowstorm targets our area.

PennDOT treating area roadways by early Thursday morning.

Crews started around 3 a.m., brining parts of Montgomery County on I-476 then traveling towards Philadelphia, taking care of I-76.

They plan to cover a large portion of our area to get ahead of the approaching storm.

Motorists can expect to see PennDOT trucks along the highways full of pounds of salt and ready to go.

Preparations are also taking place in areas stores.

On Wednesday night, there were lots of people inside the Lowes Hardware store. Folks packed bags of salt and shovels into shopping carts.

Snow blowers are also selling out.

Lowes Assistant Manager, Megan Sowders said, "We sold about 10-15 snow blowers last night, plus an additional 5-6 over the internet in the last 36 hours."

At the Cherry Hill Wegmans' store, shoppers packed aisles and cleared shelves of most of the staples people need to ride out the storm at home.

Of course bread, milk and cheese are always the popular items.

Store officials say, although they are selling out, they plan to restock again today.
