A friendly elk warms the hearts of these firefighters
This friendly elk greeted a group of firefighters.

Firefighters in Kittitas County, Wash. were greeted by a friendly elk named Buttons on July 2.

The elk snuggled up next to the firefighters as they took a break from fighting a hillside fire nearby. Buttons has established quite the reputation for herself as residents say that she's befriended a cow, goat and horse in the area.

"She made her presence known, that's for sure. She isn't your typical wild elk," Kittitas County Fire District spokesperson, Richelle Risdon told ABC News.

Risdon adds that Buttons doesn't associate with any of the nearby elk.

"She wants nothing to do with elk moving through the area, like she doesn't see herself as an elk."

The firefighters hope that all the attention the photos are getting helps keep hunters away from Buttons.
