We made it up to 46 this afternoon, but winds have now shifted to the northwest as the arctic front is moving through. A few scattered showers have accompanied the front, but not everyone has seen them. They are now pushing east of Philadelphia and will quickly be off the coast. Behind the front, cold air and gusty winds move in.

TONIGHT: We have partly cloudy skies, a few flurries around, building winds and dropping temperatures.Winds will start picking up this evening with gusts near 30mph for the rest of the night. As temps crash down into the 20s and 10s this will give wind chills in the single digits late tonight into tomorrow morning for much of the area. The low hits 22 in Philadelphia, 19 in the cooler suburbs.

WEDNESDAY: Sunshine will mix with clouds through the day tomorrow as cumulus clouds will bubble up in the extremely cold air. High temps will reach near freezing, but you can throw that out the window. With winds gusting 40-45mph, especially the first part of the day, the wind chills will be no better than the teens. This is a day you will need hats, scarves, gloves and winter jackets. Make sure the kids are bundled up for the bus stop. A fast moving clipper systems will arrive Wednesday night into the pre-dawn hours of Thursday dropping a coating to an inch of snow. Just enough to be a nuisance as the ground will be plenty cold for it to stick.

THURSDAY: Be careful for your morning commute, with a fresh coat of snow. Treated surfaces will be likely be okay, but any untreated surfaces will be slick and you will need to clean off your car before heading out on Thursday morning. Early clouds will break for sun for the rest of the day and winds won't be anywhere near as bad as Wednesday. That will make Thursday's high of 38 feel much better.

FRIDAY: It's mostly cloudy with a few more snow showers possible, especially in at night. The high drops to 34.

SATURDAY: Look for partly sunny skies with gusty winds and a somewhat improved high of 38.

SUNDAY: Sun mixes with a few clouds and it's not nearly as cold with an afternoon high of 42. Rain moves in during the evening hours.

MONDAY: Leftover morning rain and clouds give way to some sunshine. The high soars to 50.

TUESDAY: Look for partly sunny skies with a high around 48.
