EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING: An excessive heat warning goes into effect at noon Thursday and will last through Friday at 8 p.m. The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure. Excessive heat can be life-threatening among at-risk populations, such as children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or the late evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing and be sure to drink plenty of water.

TODAY AND FRIDAY: The hazy sky will send temps to 97 today and 93 tomorrow. The heat indexes will climb over 100 both afternoons. Even the overnights won't cool much with lows well in the 70s and the heat index staying near 80! Most of the time it's dry, but an isolated storm could pop up here and there.

SATURDAY: Clouds will fight the sunshine, as a wave of energy approaches in the afternoon. This means the air temperature will drop slightly to 91, and the heat index is expected to stay below 100. In the afternoon, watch for more in the way of scattered downpours and thunderstorms.

SUNDAY: It's hot and humid again. It now looks like Sunday will be the most active day for scattered downpours or a thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening. The High: 90.

MONDAY: Some models suggest temperatures may dip below 90, while other suggest the low 90s. We'll continue to time the relief, but at this point it looks like 90 for your high with more of the same hazy, hot and humid conditions and chance for an afternoon thunderstorm.

TUESDAY: We finally get some much needed relief from the heat and the humidity with temperatures stopping at 86.

WEDNESDAY: It's partly sunny and a warm 86.
