LINDENWOLD, N.J. (WPVI) -- Days after a storm caused some of the worst damage the area has seen in recent years, residents in Camden County are still working to cleanup.

Three days since the storm and power is still out at Lindenwold Towers which houses 100 senior citizens.

People are running out of patience.

"What we're getting from Atlantic City Electric is that it could be Saturday, it could be Sunday," said Cliff Mitchell, manager.

The lack of air conditioning and dark apartments are two factors that are to blame for at least four seniors who went to the emergency room for breathing problems and were hurt due to falls.

"I gotta go to my doctor's tomorrow. He may tell me to go to the hospital and tell me to wait for this to end because I'm having a hard time breathing right now," said Jan Casagrande.

Camden County emergency management officials are working with Volunteers of America, who run the HUD facility.

A backup generator running on gas is providing limited electricity.

Camden County didn't get the brunt of the storm like other parts of South Jersey but it's still some of the worst damage they've seen in recent years.

They are awaiting a disaster proclamation to release extra funds.

In the meantime, contractor Josh Cherry says rain is hindering the cleanup process.

"Tonight we can't, we're on hold. We'll see what the weather brings tomorrow. It's kind of a race against the weather," said Cherry, Alan Cherry's Exteriors.

Public adjuster Ruben Perez makes sure his clients get the most out of their insurance coverage and has advice for those rushing to get life back to normal.

"Take pictures of anything you throw out - personal property, anything. Some people are just tossing stuff out...You have to take pictures to show that those items actually existed," said Perez, RP Adjustment Group.

Perez also says to put your emotions aside when making your claim or call an adjuster to make sure you've covered all bases.

And if you have to stay in a hotel because of the damage, your insurance provider should cover those expenses.
