Ice caused dangerous conditions on the roads and sidewalks.

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (WPVI) -- Light rain and dropping temperatures created more ice and slippery conditions Monday night.

"A lot of people chipping ice off their windshields, slipping taking out the trash," Josh Montague of King of Prussia said.

It was a day of crashes, slips, and falls.

In Trenton, New Jersey, the emergency room at Capital Health Regional was busy treating injuries.

"We got everything from sprained knees to fractured ankles to fractured arms to mild concussions," Phyllis O'Neil, R.N., said.

Extreme caution continued in places like King of Prussia where state crews were tackling major roadways like 202 while we found landscaper Vic Shendge loading up to handle the smaller ones.

He was spreading the ice melt in a neighborhood just off Gulph Road.

The streets along with the windshields of vehicles had a thick coating of ice.

"If you don't have to go out tonight, don't bother going out and if you need to go out be really careful driving and walking when you get out of the vehicles," Shendge said.

In Philadelphia, a treated Broad Street appeared to be dry for drivers, but in the neighborhoods, the glare from street lights revealed the danger.

West Ontario near 10th in North Philadelphia was a sheet of ice and was blocked off after a 3:00 p.m. crash.

Kathy Malave's son and his cousin were trapped after their SUV hit a patch of ice and overturned on the way home from school.

"It was slippery on the ice. He tried to stop, but he couldn't," Malave said.

The two 16-year-olds suffered a number of injuries.

They're recovering at Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children while family members are sending out that familiar warning.

"They should be careful because not only the main streets, but the secondary streets are still dangerous. So you just have to be careful," victim's brother Victor Perez said.

The work will continue overnight to keep the roads safe.
