WILDWOOD, N.J. (WPVI) -- Among the beach balls near the iconic Wildwood sign at the Jersey shore, people were sledding on Tuesday, in a spot known for its sunshine and warm weather.

In Wildwood Crest, Ted Cianfrani was shoveling his way to summer outside his home.

"We moved down here because I was told it never snows here," he said. "They lied."

Despite his disappointment, he was on his way to help out his elderly neighbors shovel out - before enjoying his wife's bribe of breakfast!

Down the road, kids were taking full advantage of the snow.

"All of my children are home, two high schools, one in college, one in grammar school," said Katie Hesley.

Parts of the Jersey shore got several inches. By mid-morning, Wildwood Crest crews continued trash collection, plowing in between.

After the snowfall began, waiting caravans of plows and salt trucks went up and down the Black Horse Pike. Still, at times this morning, driving was not safe.

"People were just following tracks and making their own road," said Brian Woods of Absecon.

Meanwhile, Kate said it was beautiful, "And now it can go away!"
