Lightning caused a fire that damaged two homes in Middletown, New Castle County, officials say.

MIDDLETOWN, Del. (WPVI) -- Lightning caused a fire that damaged two homes in Middletown, New Castle County, officials say.

The fire started around 4 p.m. Sunday along the 500 block of Whispering Trail in the Springmill community.

Shortly after a thunderstorm passed, residents reported seeing smoke coming from two homes.

Everyone made it out the homes safely, officials say, and no injuries were reported.

One firefighter managed to save a resident's prescription drugs.
