PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A powerful line of thunderstorms ripped across the Delaware and Lehigh Valleys overnight Sunday into Monday, causing damage in several areas and knocking out power in others.

Lightning streaking across the skyline made for dramatic pictures in Center City Philadelphia.
More than 30 residents were forced to evacuate when their alarm went off at the Midtown Apartments in the 1200 block of Walnut Street.
It happened at 2:00 a.m. Monday.
Fire officials say heavy rains flooded the roof and led to a leak, which tripped up the alarm system.
Residents were allowed back in to get their belongings Monday morning but they couldn't stay since the alarm system still wasn't working.
Building management was hoping residents would be able to return home by the end of the day.
Meantime, some went to stay with family and friends, while others relocated to a nearby high school while repairs were being made.
Investigators say lightning struck a wooden water tower on top of an abandoned building in Camden.
Firefighters were having trouble getting water on the tower, located 150 feet off the ground battling the blaze at a vacant former book bindery located at Copewood and Thorn Streets.
There were no immediate reports injuries.
Authorities in Newtown, Bucks County are working to determine if lightning sparked an overnight blaze in the unit block of Cloverlee Lane.
The residents were able to make it out safely.
The heavy wind and rain caused plenty of damage as well.
In New Jersey, a large tree came down in the front yard of a home in the 3700 block of Royal Avenue in Pennsauken, damaging a fence.
In Woodbury, the Action Cam found a car submerged in high water in the 500 blcock of South Evergreen Avenue.
The driver was able to get out safely. Fire department crews remained on the scene.
And in Medford, a large tree fell on a home in the unit block of Christopher Mill Drive. No injuries were reported.
Across the river in Pennsylvania, a tree toppled over at State Street and Edgemont in Media, Delaware County right onto the hood of a parked car.
In Montgomery County, fire crews were called out to an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Butler Pike in Whitemarsh Township. Investigators were trying to determine if a lightning strike that started that blaze.
The Red Cross was assisting 3 residents from 2 units. Power was out in the rest of the complex.
