VIDEO: Arctic air descends on the region
Commuters bundled up against the coldest weather of this winter season - and temperatures were expected to drop even more.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Wednesday was expected to be the coldest day so far this year, and could end up being the coldest day in a year.

Commuters bundled up against the arctic blast Wednesday morning.

Kyrif Taylor was met with a frigid commute home when he got off the late shift.

At 69th street station in Upper Darby, people were clamoring to board their heated buses.

In Center City Philadelphia, construction workers were out on the job overnight at 15th and Chestnut Streets in the bitter cold.

Elsewhere, the cleanup from Tuesday's storm continued.

The snow was light, but as temperatures plunged ice formed, and it took a little extra muscle to remove.

Drivers were warned to use caution Wednesday morning.

Some streets like Clarion Street in South Philadelphia were still snow-covered and could be slippery.

And pedestrians everywhere were advised to watch their step and bundle up.
