Snow leads to slippery conditions, minor crashes across the region
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The region's latest winter storm left snow sticking to untreated surfaces and side roads and led to a number of minor crashes during the Wednesday morning commute.
Accidents were reported on slippery roads in locations including the Route 202 Parkway in Montgomery Twp., Montgomery County and Route 340 (Kings Highway) in Coatesville, Chester County.
A more serious crash happened before 7 a.m. in Lower Salford, Montgomery County, where a motorist was reported trapped after a vehicle slid off the road.
Images from Sky 6 showed multiple first responders on the scene, along Harleysville Pike (Route 113) at Main Street.
The slippery conditions came near the end of a slow-moving winter storm that arrived late Monday and continued with varying intensity into the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The Action Cam was in West Chester, Pa. before dawn Wednesday and found snow accumulating on grassy areas, bushes and some side streets.
Motorists there seemed to be faring pretty well in the wintry conditions.
The snow started sticking to many area roads late Tuesday night, including Route 422 in Limerick, Montgomery County.
Traffic was slowing down, but drivers continued to press on.
The snow at that time appeared to be more of a nuisance rather than a major problem.
It appeared the plows and salt trucks that had been out treating roads before and during the snowfall had done their jobs effectively.
Still, motorists were being advised to allow extra time Wednesday morning when heading out.
