Snow, wind, cold impacting Jersey Shore
The Jersey Shore received the brunt of Saturday's snow storm, with some spots receiving more than 8 inches.

SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- It's been a long time since anyone at the Jersey Shore has had to get out the snow shovels, let alone a snow blower.

"Last winter," said Jim Shay of Sea Isle City.

But today, they did.

"It's nice man. Nice to get out and workout," said Shay.

At first, it was brutally cold Saturday morning.

The snow was just starting to fall, but the wind is what made it so cold.

"The wind is brutal. The wind is brutal man, especially when you live here," said Shay.

Sue Bartman and her dog Slim had to get to Wawa early in Ocean City.

"I love it. I wish I could go skiing, but I'm a little old for that," said Bartman.

For poor old Slim - not so much.

Then around 9, the big flakes started to fall.

And it started to pile up on the streets and on the roads.

All you could do is try and keep up.

The plow and salt trucks certainly had their hands full.

In Sea Isle City, Vincent Powell closed his restaurant.

"Called everyone that had reservations and told them sorry... Most of the employees are off the island anyway, so it's not worth having them drive in," said Powell.

He also canceled his plans for the Flyers game.

"Me and the wife, we're hunkering down, we'll turn the heat up," said Powell.

Officials say in a snow storm like this, avoid driving if you can, but if you can't, please take it slow.
