HUNTING PARK (WPVI) -- Firefighters battled a fire overnight in Hunting Park that left a female homeless and a dog suffering from smoke inhalation.

She gave the dog oxygen as firefighters knocked down the blaze on the 3500 block of North 11th Street just before midnight Friday.

When crews arrived they were met with flames shooting from the first floor of the three-story apartment building.

They quickly went to work battling the flames before it could reach the second floor.

Only the woman was displaced, and she is uninjured.

The cause of the fire is still being determined.
