STRAWBERRY MANSION (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting in Strawberry Mansion that turned deadly overnight.

It happened before 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police say someone fired seven shots into a Mercury Grand Marquis as the car was traveling south in the 1800 block of North 33rd Street.

The 33-year-old driver was hit twice in the torso.

Police say he continued driving for another block before the car crashed into a ditch.

He was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital in critical condition. He died about 90 minutes later.

A 32-year-old male passenger was also wounded in the shooting, suffering a graze wound to the head.

Medics took him to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

Police are working to determine who fired the shots and why.
