HUNTING PARK (WPVI) -- One person was killed after a car crashed into a warehouse in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia.

It happened around 1 a.m. on Rising Sun Avenue.

Police said the 75-year-old male passenger was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 29-year-old female driver suffered internal injuries and was undergoing surgery.

Accident investigators were called in to gather evidence and piece together exactly what happened.

Surveillance footage shows the 2014 Dodge Avenger appearing to run a red light on Rising Sun before veering right and crashing into the building.

It caused a gaping hole in the side of Expert Roofing Supply, which opened just weeks ago.

Managing partner Hasan Serefli shared cell phone footage of the damage inside, but added in the scheme of things, that's not important.

"The physical damage is of course not something important compared to somebody's losses," Serefli said.

Police said the 2014 Dodge, which was registered to the passenger, was traveling west on Rising Sun when the 29-year-old driver lost control, jumped the curb, and smashed into the roofing warehouse, tearing the cement siding and bricks.

A police tow truck removed the vehicle from the scene around 4:30 a.m.

It is unclear how the passenger and the driver were connected; police said they don't have the same last name or same address.

Police have yet to be able to speak to the driver.

The name of the driver and passenger have not been released.
