PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Women's World Cup Champion and member of the U.S Women's National Soccer Team Carli Lloyd has been named the honorary grand marshal of the 6abc Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Action News meteorologist Cecily Tynan made the announcement Wednesday on Facebook.

Lloyd, a native of Delran, New Jersey, will ride on a parade float and join Cecily and anchor Rick Williams in the host booth.

Lloyd and the US Women's National Team visited the White House on Tuesday.

Before the World Cup Final in July, Lloyd spoke with Action News via Skype.

She was well aware of the support she had back home.

"The fan support's been unbelievable," Lloyd said.

The 6abc Thanksgiving Day Parade takes place on the Ben Franklin Parkway on Thursday, November, 26, 2015.
