Police say a 65-year-old woman died after she was hit by a vehicle in Philadelphia's Wissinoming neighborhood.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A woman who was killed in a crash in Philadelphia Thursday has been identified as the longtime assistant to former 76ers owner, entrepreneur Pat Croce.

It happened around 2:28 p.m. when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Comly Street and Harbison Avenue in the city's Wissinoming neighborhood.

The force of the crash caused one of the vehicles to hit 65-year-old Sue Barbacane who was walking nearby.

She was rushed to an area hospital where she later died.

Police have not identified the victim, in a tweet Thursday night, Croce said he worked with the victim for 35 years.

"My personal assistant of 35 years, Sue Barbacane, was killed this evening by a hit & run driver while she was walking prior to attending her favorite activity, a Phillies game. If you have ever contacted me, then you know Sue," Croce said.

While Croce's tweet references a hit and run, police have not confirmed those details. It's unclear at this time if any charges are being filed against the drivers.

In another tweet early Friday morning, Croce thanked those who have reached out to him, citing a quote from poet Jalal al-Din Rumi.

"'When a light returns to its source, it takes nothing of what it has illuminated.' #Rumi Thank you deeply for your thoughts, prayers & meditations. Sue's light shines ever so brightly on all she touched. #love #peace #silence," Croce said.
