And like a spirit, Shayne Gostisbehere is continuing to haunt opponents in overtime.
"Almost every time he shoots the puck, he gets it through and that's really dangerous," forward Jake Voracek said.
"I think when the game gets closer and closer in the third period, he cranks up his game a notch," captain Claude Giroux said.
On Tuesday night, the 22-year-old scored the OT game-winner for the Flyers for the third time this season.
"It's pretty awesome. Of course, you can't do it without your teammates. It's been fun for sure, but sometimes you got to pinch yourself," Gostisbehere said.
"He hasn't played a lot of games, but you can see the confidence he has and how he's comfortable making plays. When you have a new player coming in and showing that kind of confidence and it kind of builds on the other players, too," Giroux said.
The kid is making quite a name for himself. He's only played 17 games, period.
He is now the fastest player to reach three overtime goals and only the fourth rookie ever to score that many.
"It's surreal. I'm not going to lie. I haven't been in too many overtime games in my life, let alone win some," Gostisbehere said.
So how many OT games had he played in before the season?
