Former Philadelphia sheriff charged with fraud

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A former Philadelphia sheriff has been indicted.

John Green is accused of fraud, filing fake tax returns and taking bribes.

Federal prosecutors say Green conspired with James Davis to make real estate dealings in exchange for personal benefits.

At a hearing on Friday, Green plead not guilty. Bail was set at $50,000.

If convicted of all charges, Green faces a maximum sentence of 85 years.

Green stepped down in 2011 after 22 years.
