FAIRMOUNT PARK (WPVI) -- Officials say a 70-year-old rower referee's boat struck another small boat that caused him to capsize into the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park section.

His boat collided with the boat near Saint Joseph's Boathouse on Boathouse Row around 5:35 a.m. Saturday.

A jogger passing the scene heard screaming and called police.

The referee managed to swim back to shore where emergency workers from Temple University's team checked him out.

He is expected to be okay.
