PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Not much on Facebook is a secret, but now the social media site has come up with a way to keep certain conversations private.

The new feature is called "Secret Conversations" and is a part of Facebook's messenger app.

The texts are encrypted on the devices that they're sent from - and those they're received on.

That means if you're chatting in "secret mode," you won't see those conversations on your desk top and they'll delete automatically.

Facebook says it won't even have access to the texts - and neither will the government.
