ELSMERE, Del. (WPVI) -- A New Castle County staple is back open after it was gutted by a fire last Christmas Eve.

Serpe and Sons Bakery re-opened Friday morning in Elsmere.

It is now suing the company that installed its oven, which was believed to be the cause the fire that shut them down.

The bakery's owner, Dominic Serpe, told Action News it has been a long road, but he is happy to be back in business.

"It's a long ordeal and like I said it's crazy and trying to get everything back together, reorganized and putting everything back into working condition. Finally we've got everybody back and we're baking and we feel like we're back at home again," said Serpe.

Serpe and Sons has served the New Castle County area for more than 60 years.
