Suspect bites Philadelphia police officer

PORT RICHMOND (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia police officer was bitten by a suspect in Port Richmond.

It happened shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday near Emerald and Wishart streets.

Police say a 24th District officer conducting an investigation stopped a man.

The man then bit the officer.

The officer was transported to Aria Health Frankford and is expected to be treated and released.

The suspect was arrested on scene.

It is not clear what the officer's investigation involved.
