Eight people were injured a crash involving seven vehicles in Logan Township, Gloucester County.

In preliminary reports, police think the driver of the tractor trailer hauling a tanker of waste water failed to stop and plowed into traffic already at a standstill because of an earlier issue on the road.

"There were seven vehicles involved in the crash, three of which were in the median, three of which were off to the right shoulder of the roadway and one was in the roadway itself," Logan Township Lt. Joseph Flatley said.

Multiple agencies responded and emergency crews rushed victims to local hospitals. None had with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of a Honda with the roof torn off was alert and talking. Trees prevented at least two other drivers from plunging into a pond along the highway.

There was so much debris, cleanup crews had to bring a dumpster to the scene.

"Given the damage to these vehicles, we expected some life-threatening injuries, but from what we're receiving from EMS personnel is that, thus far, there are no life-threatening injuries. Everyone appears to be, incredibly, in decent shape for the damage that was caused here," Flatley said.

The victims were taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center and Cooper University Hospital. Their conditions have not been released.
