CONCORD TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A man is dead after a fire on Tuesday morning in Concord Township, Delaware County.

Firefighters had to search the rubble before finding the remains.

Officials say they aren't yet sure if the body is that of the man who often stays at the home because they are still working to identify the victim.

The fire was reported around 8 a.m. in the 800 block of Naamans Creek Road.

"I smelled smoke and looked down the road and it wasn't hard to find," said neighbor Mike Lukes.

He managed to snap some photos before firefighters arrived.

"There was no fire apparatus here yet but I could hear them all coming. It just went up very quick. It went from smoke to fully engulfed," Lukes said.

Firefighters found the heaviest fire in a second floor portion above the garage.

They contained the blaze in much of the structure, but the section with the garage was so badly damaged that it later collapsed.

The owner of the house told firefighters that the sole occupant of the house was a man who slept in a bedroom above the garage.

While the man's car was located next to the house, no one could locate the owner.

By mid-morning fire investigators began digging through the collapsed portion of the house. It was there where the body as discovered.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
