PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Reading Whoopies are ready to take the field!

The Whoopies will be the newest addition to the Philadelphia Phillies' farm system - at least for a day.

That's because on August 7th the Double A Affiliate Reading Fightin Phils will transform into the Reading Whoopies for their 16th Annual Morning Game.

The team's uniform will resemble Whoopie Pies, a treat believed to have originated in Pennsylvania's Americana Region.

"They were created by the area's Pennsylvania German communities and have been handed down from generation to generation. Whoopie pies are actually more like a sandwich, made of two cake-like cookies with a cream center," the team explains.

The players will be wearing hats that are made to look like a giant Whoopie Pie along with a Whoopie Pie mascot.

The mascot will be wearing the Fightin Phils cap with the old-school "R" logo. A reminder that the Whoopies are only around for a limited time.

"The Whoopie Pie mascot is also carrying a flag that states the word, "Whoopie!" This celebrates the local legend that when children would find Whoopie Pies in their lunches they would all shout, 'Whoopie!'" the team says.

The jerseys will be chocolate brown in color, with "Whoopies" written in cream filling across the chest.

The Reading Whoopies game-worn jerseys will then be auctioned for charity.

If you want to look like a Whoopie, you are in luck because hats and t-shirts are up for preorder now at fightins.com/shop.

The 16th Annual Morning Game takes place Monday, August 7th at 9:35 a.m.

The Reading Whoopies opponent? The Akron Rubber Ducks, of course.
