2 rescued from New Castle, Delaware house fire

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- Two people were rescued from a house fire in New Castle, Delaware.

Crews were called to the unit block of Gene Avenue shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday.

Officials reported heavy smoke and fire showing from the house.

A 66-year-old woman was taken to Christiana Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

A 55-year-old man was also rescued.

Crews placed the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

There is no word on a cause.
