OTTSVILLE, Pa. (WPVI) -- Authorities remain on the scene in Bucks County after chemical explosives were discovered near a home in Ottsville, Pa.[br /][br /]Controlled detonations could be heard periodically through the night Tuesday and into the early morning hours on Wednesday.[br /][Ads /][br /]The situation unfolded Tuesday, after authorities arrived at the property in the 8700 block of Easton Road.[br /][br /][br /][br /]They were there to serve a mental health commitment warrant on a 70-year-old man when they uncovered the chemical explosives and a large number of weapons and ammunition.[br /][br /]Bomb experts were called.[br /][br /]Chopper 6 HD was overhead as two explosive experts wearing gas masks carried out what were said to be explosive liquid chemicals.[br /][br /]" /][br /]They moved the chemicals far away to the back of the property. Officials also carried away various materials from a shed in the back of the property.[br /][br /]All of this occurred as Easton Road was shut down between Route 412 and Churchill Road and residents were told to shelter in place.[br /][br /][br /][br /]"This is weird to come home. I mean, it's Ottsville, if you blink, you're through it, it's a small town," neighbor Drew Pacell said.[br /][Ads /][br /]Earlier in the day, law enforcement officers carried out a slew of weapons and boxes of ammunition from the property.[br /][br /]"The chemical explosives is the one that's weird. Guns and ammo? It's Pennsylvania," Pacell said.[br /][br /]"We live out here, we hunt, fish, a bunch of rednecks, you know, but no explosives, that's pushing the limits, you know what I mean," neighbor Mike Davis said.[br /][br /]Some neighbors say they were told to shelter in place.[br /][br /]"My dad called me, he's part of the fire department, he told me that something was going on, to just stay inside, not go out," neighbor Joyce Dowd said.[br /][br /]"This is a little nerve-wracking, I don't know what is going on, but we need to get out of here," neighbor Jaime Fahey said.[br /][br /]It seemed nobody knows the 70-year-old man who lives in the home.[br /][Ads /][br /]"People mostly keep to themselves around here," Davis said.[br /][br /][facebook URL="https://www.facebook.com/6abcActionNews/videos/10154789039846378/" /][br /][br /]It's unclear if the 70-year-old will be charged with a crime.[br /][br /]----------[br /]Send a breaking news alert[br /]Report a correction or typo[br /]Learn more about the 6abc apps
