Man struck, killed on New Jersey Turnpike

BORDENTOWN, N.J. (WPVI) -- Police are investigating after a man was struck and killed on the New Jersey Turnpike in Bordentown.

It happened around 3:40 a.m. Friday in the northbound lanes near Route 206.

Investigators say the driver of a Mercedes stopped his vehicle in the southbound lanes.

He got out of the car, crossed the southbound lanes, and was crossing the northbound lanes when he was hit by an oncoming SUV.

The driver of the SUV stopped at the scene, police say.

The name of the man who was killed has not been released.
